Hi!

We are Ryan (design engineer and Chief Toy Designer) & Janetta (full-time mum and qualified sculpture artist) and our four children, five years old and under (our fourth was recently born at home during full lockdown). We live on a pine grove in Auckland, New Zealand, where we make and assemble our products.

At JOYBOX we believe in the value of child-led dynamic play that develops motor skills and fosters creativity. Our open-ended wooden play products are inspired by child care experts around the world and endorsed for their versatility in child care environments and at home.

Our children are the inspiration behind JOYBOX, along with RIE and Simplicity Parenting philosophies of play. Wanting to make our boy a first birthday present that would challenge his motor and social skills while looking good in our home, we designed and built him the first Rocking Boat Step Climber. Ryan, being passionate about designing products of high quality that bring a sense of joy, saw a great opportunity to create toy products.  And hence, JOYBOX was born in 2016.

We currently stock five different products – our Rocking Boat Step Climber, Pikler Triangle Climber in Birch and White, a Ramp & Slide for the Pikler Triangle, and a Mini Triangle accessory.  We make them proudly in New Zealand, to the highest safety standards, and we love to share them with you flat-packed style with part-assembly to save on your shipping costs.
