Hi!

We are Ryan and Janetta, and our kids Johnny (three years), Winsome (one), and baby boy due Spring 2018.  We live on a pine grove in Auckland where we make and assemble our products.

Ryan is our Chief Toy Designer and a qualified Product Development Engineer.  As well as Director of JOYBOX, he operates a Design Engineering and Fabrication business – GRUNT Engineering.

Janetta has a degree in Visual Arts majoring in Sculpture.  In the past she has been a freelance film maker and is currently a full-time mother, inspired by simplicity parenting and the RIE philosophy of play.

Wanting to make Johnny a 1st birthday present that would challenge his motor and social skills while looking good in our home, we designed and built him our first Rocking Boat Step Climber. Ryan, being passionate about designing products of high quality that bring a sense of joy, saw a great opportunity to create toy products.  And hence, JOYBOX was born.

We look forward to sharing more with you as we extend our product line and as our family grows with yours.

We want to share these with you within a philosophy of play that we hope you embrace as much as we do.  We are super interested in learning more about what you and your little ones want, what they will use, and in what way.
